No – the account numbers for your individual products (checking, savings, etc.) will stay the same!
You will be assigned a new member number, which identifies you as an LGE member and allows you to add more products to your membership in the future.
You can find your new member number by logging into LGE online banking and visiting Settings > Profile, by giving us a call at 770-424-0060, or by visiting your nearest branch.
Good news: if you have a GCB debit card, your new LGE debit card will be on its way soon!
GCB debit cards will stop working on August 4, 2025.
• When you receive your LGE card, hang onto it until August 4 – that’s the day you’ll be able to activate and start using it. Activation instructions will be included with your card.
• If you’ve set up any recurring payments using your debit card, be sure to update your card info with the payee so your payments keep going through without a hitch.
Yes! If you already have deposits or payments scheduled, no action is needed right now. These will continue to process after August 4.
However, the GCB routing number will retire in February 2026, so be sure to update your payment info by then.
Yes, you can continue to make online banking transfers between LGE and other financial institutions! Starting on August 4, transfers from other financial institutions will be completed on the third business day.
No, your loan terms, interest rates, and due date will all stay exactly as they are now. If you have automatic payments in place from another institution, you do not need to make any changes at this time.
However, remember to update all recurring payments and deposits with LGE’s routing number – 261171480 – before February 2026.
Yes - for now! Because your checking (MICR) number will stay the same, you can use your checks until the GCB routing number is retired in February 2026. To continue using checks, make sure to order new checks through online banking, in branch, or by giving us a call at 770-424-0060 by February 2026. Members aged 60 and over are eligible for one free box of standard design checks for each of their checking accounts. Shipping fees apply.
Your current overdraft elections will stay the same: if you’re opted into overdrafts with GCB, you’ll be opted into Courtesy Pay (our standard overdraft practice) with LGE! For even more details, please see Membership Agreement & Disclosures section “AVAILABLE BALANCE, POSTING TRANSACTIONS, AND OVERDRAFT.”
Courtesy Pay (standard overdraft practice) | LGE pays your overdraft (up to a predetermined limit) | Courtesy Pay is used only after other overdraft options have been used. No more than 3 Courtesy Pay fees will be assessed per day. To see all fees, refer to the mailed Fee Schedule. |
Overdraft protection plan | LGE automatically transfers your own funds to pay your overdraft | Setting up an overdraft protection plan from your savings or personal line of credit (Quick Cash) can often save you money compared to incurring Courtesy Pay or NSF fees. |
Returned/ declined payment | Your transaction or payment is declined, resulting in a non sufficient funds (NSF) fee | Any returned items may result in additional fees being charged to you by the merchant/payee. |
These MAY BE COVERED as a part of our standard overdraft practices, even if you don’t opt in:
• Checks and other transactions using your checking account number
• ACH payments
These are DECLINED unless you opt in:
• ATM transactions
• Everyday debit card purchases
You must opt into Courtesy Pay if you’d like us to cover these transactions when your balance is too low. If you don’t opt in, these transactions will be declined when funds aren’t available.
You can opt into or out of Courtesy Pay by visiting your nearest branch, giving us a call at 770-424-0060, or sending a secure message through online banking.
While we encourage you to review the new combined Agreement, as it replaces previous account agreements for consumer deposit accounts and commercial deposit accounts, we are pointing out a few notable sections that may affect your membership. First, for business account members we have two areas to note: (1) under the section entitled, “If You Carry Special Insurance for Employee Fraud/Embezzlement (Business Accounts Only)”, if you carry special insurance, you will now be required you to make an insurance claim prior to submitting a claim with us; and (2) under the section entitled, “Electronic Funds Transfer Disclosure”, we have removed the electronic funds transfer consumer protection rights (as they were only intended for consumers). Next, for all members, we have updated the Dispute Resolution section, including updates to the arbitration provision.
Refer to your mailed Fee Schedule to view all fees. The Fee Schedules are also available in LGE online banking under Accounts > Fee Schedule.
Starting August 4, you’ll be able to log in to LGE online banking via our homepage or the LGE mobile app. You’ll keep your username – you’ll just need to update your password. If you have any questions or need help accessing online banking, give us a call at 770-424-0060, then follow the prompts.
You can view your statements anytime through LGE’s secure online or mobile banking! Logging into online or mobile banking automatically enrolls you in eStatements, which offer several benefits:
Prefer paper? No problem—paper statements are also available upon request.
Whether digital or paper, your statements will be available on a consistent schedule so you always know what to expect.

As a credit union, we pride ourselves on being different from the standard bank. That also means that we use different terms that you might not be used to seeing, so here's a short list of some new phrases you might come across.
We know there's lots of new information to learn — if you have any questions, don't hesitate to give us a call at 770-424-0060!
A credit union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative. That means we’re owned by our members (that’s you!) and focused on helping you, not making money for shareholders. We return profits to members through better rates, lower fees, and friendlier service.
Instead of earning interest like at a bank, your savings at a credit union earn dividends. It’s basically the same thing — a little thank-you for keeping your money with us — but since you’re a member-owner, we call it a dividend.
This is how credit unions refer to who's eligible to join. At LGE, anyone who lives or works in Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Cherokee, Cobb, Dade, Douglas, Floyd, Fulton, Gordon, Murray, Paulding, Polk, Walker, and Whitfield counties is eligible to apply for membership, as are employees of many companies (we call those companies Partner Groups). Family members of existing members are also eligible.
The Financial Education Center, powered by KOFE, is LGE's free online education resource. With options like one-on-one coaching, budgeting tools, online courses & videos, the Financial Education Center makes it simple to build critical skills like budgeting, managing debt, understanding credit, and more. You can register for free & get started here.
Everyone who banks with a credit union is a member, not just a customer. That's because you actually own a piece of the credit union and have a say in how it’s run. With credit unions, you're part of a community, not just a number.
The NCUA is like the FDIC, but for credit unions. It insures your deposits up to $250,000, so your money is safe, sound, and guaranteed by the U.S. government. Learn more about the NCUA & how it protects your money here.
Partners in Education are schools in our community with whom we work to provide financial education & ongoing support. All students & staff at our PIEs are eligible for membership.
Partner Groups, or Select Employee Groups (SEGs) are local business that we partner with to provide dedicated support, financial wellness resources, and workplace engagement. All employees of these Partner Groups are eligible to become members, allowing employers to provide member-exclusive benefits to their teams at no cost to their organization.
Curious about becoming a Partner Group? Learn more here or reach out to BusinessDevelopment@LGEccu.org.
You'll occasionally see your deposit accounts referred to as shares. When you open a checking or savings account, you’re buying a “share” in the credit union. That's what makes you a member-owner!
Thank you for checking in with us. Our live chat support is currently unavailable. Please check back during our regular chat hours of Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
