Health Savings Accounts
Many health insurance programs are now so expensive that it is becoming very difficult for companies to offer them to employees and for employees to afford premiums. Current figures indicate that medical cost inflation is running at about 12% to 14% annually with no end in sight. For some employers, health insurance costs are being transferred to the employees or terminated outright. What can be the alternative for both employer and employee?
LHW Insurance has some innovative health insurance concepts that are substantially reduced in cost, among them Health Saving Accounts (HSA’s). HSA’s are special accounts that allow the policyholder to take 100% of the contributions as a tax deduction. In addition, the HSA fund grows tax deferred and withdrawals are tax free. All of the tax benefits are available to both the employer and the employee. In fact, if the employer decides not to participate, the employee can fund his/her own policy individually.
HSA’s were set up by the Federal government and involve two primary components: a specific type of health insurance plan and a Health Savings Account to fund it. LGE offers HSA Savings Accounts and LHW Insurance offers the corresponding health insurance plans.
